Why We Built HowDiverse.is

The idea for HowDiverse.is emerged from a simple yet striking observation. A member of the Nyala team was invited to apply for a job at a well-known British tech unicorn. However, a quick visit to the company's "About Us" page revealed a glaring lack of racial diversity in the photos of its team—an irony given the company’s vocal stance on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

This sparked the creation of HowDiverse.is as a tongue-in-cheek side project aimed at exposing contradictions in the DEI narratives of the tech world.

As we explored the project, it became clear that the potential applications of HowDiverse.is extended far beyond tech. For organisations genuinely committed to DEI, transparency is the foundation of meaningful progress. HowDiverse.is aims to foster accountability and spark real action by providing tools and data to enable informed conversations around diversity.
